Zane plays with his Thomas the Train set
I just showed him how to load the coal in
He loves wearing his Thomas cap backward
He's taller and skinnier now, with sandy hair
long enough to give him a little Dutch boy
appearance. With his Thomas the Train pajamas
and his Thomas the Train book sets little Zane
is now obsessed with trains especially if they
are Thomas, or outside by our house where
the TRAX passes by every fifteen minutes
which Zane has loved since he was just six
months old, I think "Tren!" was one of his
first words, come to think of it; not to mention
one of his better pronounced ones. His uncle
Steven got him a 34" wooden handled red
plastic snow shovel--just Zane's size--and
the perfect gift for his particular disposition
It's been snowing almost every day for a week
A fresh few inches fell for us on Christmas morn
I felt it like a blessing extending the winter's norm
After the storm of opening presents of their gift wrapping
Looking out the window the snow is white and bright
The sky is pure and blue a day suspended in an icicle
Zane pushes the little Thomas replica model across
the wooden figure eight train track muttering unintelligible
expostulations of enthusiasm to himself an endless discourse.
We're listening to the new Puscifer album and it finished.
"Do you wanna listen to some more music?" -- "Da."
"How about...how about...'It's a Wonderful Life,
by Sparklehorse." I am. The only one. Can ride that horse.
I'm the dog that ate your birthday cake. It's a wonderful life.
